Vacation Overview
This vacation lets you discover the undisputed beauty of gothic and baroque Prague, romantic Vienna, and charming Budapest at a more leisurely pace, spending three overnights in each of these interesting cities. Enjoy a guided city sightseeing tour with extensive commentary on the local sights, history, and traditions in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg. Start your vacation in Munich before traveling to Nuremberg, famous for its WWII trials. Visit Bratislava, Slovakia’s capital by the River Danube, and Mayerling, Austria, where Archduke Rudolf died tragically at a hunting lodge with his young lover. Join an optional excursion to the rich baroque abbey of Melk. Spend a night in Mozart’s Salzburg with its charming Getreidegasse (Salzburg’s most famous shopping lane) before motoring back to Munich then travel to Oberammergau in the Bavarian Alps. Surrounded by majestic mountains and picturesque meadows, Oberammergau is famous for its Passion Play performed by locals just once a decade to fulfill the town’s promise to God in exchange for protection from the Black Death. Return to Munich for a final overnight.
